  1. Hi again,

Just an update. After being refused reimbursement by Brainety, and seeing by all accounts that it wasn’t worth opening a dispute through PayPal, I reported the company to International Trading Standards (who have yet to reply) and I informed the company of this. I also threatened to further expose them to various media outlets. Surprise, surprise – I received a refund within a day ! I also wrote a lengthy report to PayPal customer service, who have just messaged to say they’ve passed my concerns onto the relevant department, who are going to investigate. Be persistent, people – it pays off in the end !

    • Hi Linda,
Well, very happy you managed Brainety to come to their senses. Of cource they are still a bunch of crooks, as they should have refunded you without going through all that trouble. Seems that for UK residents that is a good way to go. I also posted another message for EU citizens, where they can file a case. Anyway, I am pleased to hear about your outcome so far, and hope that the International Trading Standards institute follows up your report there!

  2. Hello,
I have checked the information on the website only after purchasing the IQ test. I wanted to cancel the subscription immediately, but it was not possible to do it on the website. I have sent an email and I have got a reply that I won’t charged after the trial. I have also canceled all the automatic payments on PayPal. Can I trust this or should I delete my PayPal account as well? I do not use that much anyway, so it would not be a huge loss. If yes, then does it help or will they go after my bank account as well? Does anyone have more specific experience like this?
    Best regards,
    Paulina

    • Hi Paulina,
You made good steps, but I wouldn’t trust them just on one email you got. I was promised a full refund and never got it. File a complaint at Paypal for the IQ test of $2.50 or something, not so much to start a dispute, but to explain that you don’t agree with a possiblle subscription – should that happen anyway. At least you have something ‘on paper’ with Paypal. Then again, it might be a good idea to ditch Paypal entirely. I have yet to see that Brainety does anything reasonable. Hope it all works out well for you – if it doesn’t, please come back and tell me 😉

      • Hello,
Thank you for your reply. Have you been charged just once or more than once? Did you ask for the cancelation of the subscription before the end of the trial period or afterwards?
I got really unhappy with the negative reviews on the PayPal itself as well. I even tried to delete my account but I got a message that I have a pending transaction or something like that. I do not have any active subscriptions and the previous ones have been cancelled. Could it be that it is due to Brainety? Even if I am able to delete my account on PayPal, then it is a good idea? Or is it better to keep it in case Brainety tries something? Does Brainety have also access to my bank account number or only to the PayPal data? How does it work?
Sorry for all the questions but I would like to make sure that I am taking all the necessary steps ^^.
        Best regards,
        Paulina

        • My first charge was 2.50 for a short test – that was a consious choice, no problem with that. But like most of the ‘victums’ I never agreed with any kind of subscription, and a week later I got charged for that anyway. I mailed Brainety, was promised a full refund that never came around, You could wait a week to see what happens, but for starters I would detach your bank account from Paypal right now. So that Paypal can never charge that, in case Brainety continous their scam. Don’t think Brainety has your actual bank details, only your Paypal account.

          • Hi!
Thanks for more information on your specific matter and the additional information. I still do not understand one thing. Did you get charged only once and after that you were able to cancel the subscription and you were not charged again? Or were there more charges made to your account?

            ———————————
Wordpress does not allow deep nested threads. So I reply here. I was charged once for the first test (ok) and charged for a subscription I never signed up for. And tried to get a refund, which was first promised but never given. Don’t know if they will try to charge me again (would not surprise me if they did) so I removed my bank from Paypal. Should they decide to refund me after all that I plan to do with them, I will transfer that money from Paypal and delete my account there.

  3. I have just been scammed by this company, too. Their reviews on Trustpilot are disgusting ! I’m a pensioner on a limited income and in no way can I afford to lose the £38.50 they’ve taken from my PayPal account ! This company needs to be held to account !

    • It’s terrible what they are doing. In my opinion Paypal is half guilty as well – this scam runs well over a year now – and they do nothing while they should know by now that they are supporting this awful Brainety gang with their continious robbery. I am in the Netherlands, and there is a Paypal office here. Once I have enough ‘cases’ like yours, I plan to visit them and confront them with this ongoing scam. If you can possibly share this website, when complaing elsewhere, please do. I started it only a few days ago, so every comment here is more than welcome. Thank you for your comment!

  4. Wow, that looks promising. I also got that subscription I never agreed with. Only the test. And no refund, paypal could not help, or wanred to help, i dont know. Please keep me posted, i’m very mad at these guys!!!!

  5. Got scammed too. I never applied for a subscription or give any permissions. Hope this works out wlel for all of us. Brainety are all thieves and crooks.

  6. I sent them this:

“You should disable your automatic subscription. Even in that page it does not say it would automatically subscribe and automatically take your money. It should make a gmail notification prior to the seven days because not everyone remembers it. You simply use the law to take advantage of other people. Aren’t you having any conscience? It’s like taking money without someone’s permission. A notification in an email that my trial would be over is all I ever needed. Please have a soul. All those corporations using a heartless law to justify such actions deserves something worse than I lost. I need that money back. You say you’d assist me. I just need a simple thing. My money you took from me in a heartbeat.”

    • Dear Kenneth,
Thank you for sharing your experience, which is exactly telling us what is wrong with Brainety. This website was just launched the other day, so it may take some time for Brainety to realize what they triggered here. I will do everything needed to make them change their mind and start behaving decently. In the meantime, I hope many of us will share this website, in order to gain as much victum cases as possible. If people want to help me, everyone is welcome to assist. Hopefully that our combined forces can get our money back, and more importantly, stop Brainetys unethical business practices.
      Thanks again!

  7. Please go get them. I was promised a refund but never got it. I did a test, and a week later I was subscribed without my consent. I managed to cancel the subscription but never got my 38 euro back. Horrible people.

    • Hi Janet,
Sorry to hear you have been victumized by Brainety too. Thank you for reporting here, with all these shared experiences, we hope to stop Brainety with their unethical business. Together we can make a difference.
      Thanks again!

  8. Indeed, this is all bad – unwanted subscriptions for insame monthly fees and no refund. What a scam. Never gave any permission for such subscription. Paypal sucks too, no help from them either. I hope this will soon come to an end.

    • Dear Arnold,
You are 100% right. It is a scam and Paypal is refusing to help and keeps fascilitating Brainety with this scam. I don’t understand why Paypal want to be a payment provider for such a bad company that tricks their customers into subscriptions for which they absolutely gave no persmission. Both should be ashamed.
      Thanks again for reporting!

Refunds for all!
